The Rice Value Chain Development Project (RVCDP) and the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the production of 9 tons of pre-basic seeds of adapted rice varieties and the training of certified rice seed production cooperatives. The signing ceremony took place on the 8th of July 2024 in the MINADER Conference Hall in Yaounde.
The event presented an opportunity for the Project Coordinator of the RVCDP, to give an overview of the project to those in attendance.
While appending his signature on the document, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. MBAIROBE Gabriel underscored the need of such partnerships in meeting the overall objective of food security for the nation. He urged both parties to keep their own side of memorandum and ensure that the terms of the agreement are executed to the letter. He thanked the Director General of IRAD for agreeing to partner with MINADER in this very brilliant initiative and counted on the competence of IRAD to deliver.
On his part, the Director General of IRAD Dr. NOE WOIN, expressed his excitement at such an opportunity which falls directly in line with the very purpose of the existence of his institution. He was positive and pledged to meet the terms of the MoU. He reminded all present of the contribution of IRAD to many such projects in the past and while acknowledging that the task was a daunting one, he counted on the competence of his team and collaborators to get the job done within the prescribed deadlines.
